Local Delicacy: Dungeness Crab
We are currently staying near the town of Sequim (pronounced Squim) along the Dungeness Spit. That word may be familiar to seafood lovers out there who know the local delicacy: Dungeness Crab.
With the shutdown finally over and my backpay in my bank account, I took my self out to celebrate this weekend for Dungeness Crab at Salty Girls Seafood in Sequim and it did not disappoint!

Sequim is also known as one of the largest lavender producers in the country so I paired it with a delicious Lavender Lemon Drop cocktail.

I was not sure the crab could live up to the hype but it most certainly did! To me, it was much better than lobster. The standard has officially been set for my special treat seafood dish going forward. I am very excited that we will be having it again for our Thanksmas Christmas dinner (if you aren’t familiar with our Thanksmas family tradition, I will post more about that soon).
I will say there is both an art and a science to cracking the crab though. Thankfully, I am here in the off season and there were very few people in the restaurant so the wonderful staff taught me how to crack the legs and get the most out of my crab. I was particularly proud of myself for getting big sections out in one piece as I learned.

I have a feeling I may go again this weekend before I leave the area 😉
