Sunny Day at Rialto Beach

We woke up to a rare sunny day in the Pacific Northwest, so Mom decided we should take a trip to the beach. For those of you who don’t know, a beach in the Pacific Northwest is very different than a beach day in California or Florida. The beach is more rock than sand, and Rialto Beach has massive trees that have washed up from storms right at the coast line.

As soon as we got out of the car, we heard the thundering waves. Mom, like most of the humans, wanted to climb up on the fallen trees to get a better look. I am smarter than the humans and realized getting closer to crashing waves as the high tide was coming in was not a good idea.

Mom forced a few pictures as close as I would go. I smiled because she had chicken, but you can tell I kept one ear on those waves the whole time.

I discovered a new potential career today: early warning and human removal system for tourists too busy taking pictures to realize a big wave is coming in. At one point, Mom was distracted trying to take a selfie of us and didn’t see the big wave splashing up closer to us. Don’t worry everyone, I did my job and pulled her out of the way before we got wet.

Mom did find the waves awe-inspiring and made this little video for all of you to see:

Grandma says that Mom should take more pictures with her in them and not just pictures of me (even though I am so cute an always having a good hair day). Given the selfie disaster, I was not going back towards the water so Mom took this solo picture:

We took a short walk a little bit back from the water and I got to search for lots of good smells before heading home for the day.
