Deschutes Brewery Tour

I admittedly did not take a lot of pictures but one of my first foreays into the local Bend scene was a brewery tour at Deschutes Brewery.

Deschutes Brewery is both a tourism dream and nightmare. While they have several “core” brews that are widely produced and distributed, they have dozens of reserve and small batch beers at any one time that are exclusive to their tasting room. If you are lucky, there might be a bottle for purchase onsite, but when it is gone, it’s gone. And there is no guarantee that even if they follow the same “recipe” it will be the same next year.

I imagine it’s a lot of fun for locals to have some old reliables and some new adventures. As a tourist, it means new adventures but your favorite may not be there your next time through town.

But the staff is wonderful and the tour was interesting so I would recommend it if you are in the area.
